Update (June 2008):
Several national teams are experienced problems during the process of data collection. Others had to delay data collection due to shortage of funding. Plus, a few additional countries have joined the study recently, so we hope that in all countries, data collection will be finished in late summer 2008.
The project is carried out in two phases: In the first phase, data will be collected on the journalists' professional orientations, the organizational evironment in which they work, as well as on their national media systems. In the second phase, we will conduct a content analysis of news accounts produced by the interviewed journalists. We anticipate that key findings will be ready for presentation and publication by spring 2008.
